Melbourne Custom Canvas Ute Canopies & Dog Box Covers: Built to Last

Our custom canvas canopies are built to withstand harsh Australian weather conditions. 

We use double-stitched seams with marine-grade thread, enclosed zips and tight tensioning to block water and fine dust while resisting UV damage. 

The fabric sheds rain fast, shields cargo from strong sun, and maintains its shape in strong winds without shrinking in extreme temperatures. Our canvas material actually improves with age, naturally weathering to become even more water-resistant over time. 

For maximum protection, we also offer an optional seam sealer compound application.

Our exclusive canvas blend, which has been specifically designed for canopies, comes in Black, Charcoal, Slate Grey and Khaki. 

We also offer PVC material which has a wider range of colours including popular greys, blacks, khakis and sands, with many colours available by special order.

Most made-to-measure ute canopies are completed within 3-4 working days. 

This timeframe begins once we receive your ute at our workshop and includes custom making the cover, installing all fittings, and adding our removable roof rail system. 

We'll provide you with a clear collection date when you make your booking, and we'll contact you as soon as your ute and canopy are ready for pickup.

Regular cleaning is straightforward and essential for longevity. Hose down the canvas while using a soft-bristle brush (a kitchen broom works well) to help remove embedded dirt, then let it air-dry completely.

Avoid high-pressure washers, as they can strip the protective coating and damage the water-resistant finish. If you must use a pressure washer, keep it as far from the canvas surface as possible to minimise coating loss.

If your canvas stops repelling water effectively, you can restore its performance by applying a reproofing compound.

The frame and canvas are light, so handling changes are minor, and fuel use remains the same or may improve slightly, as an open tray can generate some drag from the rear tailgate.

A dog box canopy only covers the aluminium dog box itself and features zips at the gas lift doors, often with a clear plastic window for light. 

In contrast, a standard ute canopy covers the entire ute tray, including the headboard and extending over the sides and tailgate.

Yes. We can either cover the entire ute tray, incorporating the dog box underneath, or have the canopy only cover the open space of the tray and attach to the dog box, leaving the dog box itself exposed.

If you're building your own frame, we strongly recommend calling us to discuss your design before welding it together, as there are common mistakes that can affect the canopy's fitment and operation. Don't worry about perfect measurements though - our covers are custom-made to fit your specific frame.

Alternatively, many customers prefer our professional service where we supply and install custom steel or aluminium frames designed to match your ute's exact dimensions. This gives you a complete engineered system with no additional work required.

A full canopy over the dog box prevents direct sunlight from hitting the aluminium and heating it up like a frying pan. For additional insulation, you can place a layer of silver foam underneath the cover.

Our canopies also feature zips that allow you to roll up the door coverings for airflow, and we can incorporate mesh panels if desired for even better ventilation.
